This is a picture of the space shuttle leaving Florida and beginning the journey to Texas. The shuttle will arrive with much fanfare and many events in the bay area June 1 before reaching its final destination at Johnson Space Center.

This Saturday marks the 176th anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto, in which the Texian army defeated the Mexican army, allowing Texas to become a free state and paving the way for the Republic of Texas.
